We picked up our Escape Camper Van and while it has a bit more pink than either of us would like, we love it. It’s name is Patchwork and it will be our home for the next two week. Tomorrow we’ll be sure to take lots of interior photos but for tonight we’d much prefer to curl up with a movie and get a good nights sleep.
We had a nice leisurely breakfast with the Whelan Family before we hit the road. Our first stop was at the World’s Largest Egg in Winlock, WA but Matt assures me that the Pysanka in Vegreville, Alberta is much larger. It’s on the to-do list for my next visit.
We made it to Astoria to see the Goonies House (it's such a great movie!!) but the owners made it quite clear with a sign on the private drive that we were not welcome.....still got a photo :) We made our way up to the top of Astoria to see the Astoria Column and the view. The rain and fog really limited what we could see.
We'd have liked to have seen more of Canon beach but since the sun sets around 4:30PM it was pretty dark when we got there. Haystack Rock is impressive even in near darkness. We will be up bright and early tomorrow to get on the road and have as much daylight as possible.
We ended at the Tillamook Creamery for a free tour and cheese tasting. We are now curled in a free campsite to try to stay warm and dry in Patchwork for the night. More from the road tomorrow.
