Originally our plan had been to go to the Grand Canyon and then back to San Francisco to meet up with my friend Jeremy but we quickly realized that while we had the time to cross California twice, we didn’t have the milage on our rental vehicle. We only have 2,800 miles included in our rental SO we arranged to stay at Jeremy’s home in San Francisco while he is in Las Vegas and he is extending his stay in Vegas so that we can meet him there. Jeremy’s home is a bit like a vacation all in itself, it has a view that looks over the entire city of San Francisco. The Bay Area has really strict drone regulations so Matt didn’t get to play as much as he would have liked but we did take the drone out off Jeremy’s balcony and back in and got some amazing views, video will be posted soon. We spent a day being super tourists and thanks to the All Day Muni Pass we were able to ride cable cars and trams to our hearts delight. We wandered around Fisherman’s Wharf, had the original Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista Cafe, made lunch out of a loaf of incredible sour dough bread that we enjoyed while we watched the seals at pier 39 and then had an early dinner at the award winning Tony’s Neapolitan Pizza. Jeremy introduced me to this pizza many years ago and it’s still the best margarita pizza I’ve ever had. We decided to have a nice quite night at Jeremy’s house for the evening. We enjoyed the view, ate left over pizza and watched a few movies. The next day we got up and prepared to hit the road again and noticed that we couldn’t see the city from Jeremy’s house as the fog was too thick and covering everything. We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and made our way to the Marin Headlands hoping to get a good view of the bridge but sadly the fog covered the entire bridge and showed no signs of letting up. | We didn’t get our iconic Golden Gate Bridge picture so that just means we’ll have to come back, which is good because San Fran is much more enjoyable with Mr. Jeremy Kranz as your tour guide. Now we are slowly making our way to Las Vegas via some back roads and campsite stops along the way. |
