Our first night in the van got quite chilly but thankfully we had stopped at Goodwill and bought duvets so we were able to stay under the covers and toasty warm.  A big thank you to Blue Heron French Cheese who allow campers to park in their lot overnight for free!

The drive through the northern part of the Oregon coast was stunning.  It’s full of sleepy little towns that are especially sleepy (but still charming) in the winter.  We stopped in at Depoe Bay to view the world’s smallest naturally occurring harbor.  We visited Thor’s Well at Cape Perpetua and Matt was able to get some amazing drone footage of seals playing. We grabbed some photos with some fantastic road side oddities, which is my guilty pleasure. We found statues, ship wrecks and even dinosaurs. Eventually we pulled into the Red Wood National park for some “dispersed camping” which means camping outside of a designated campground in a National Forest.  No services, but it’s free and all we need is a place to park since Pathchwork The Van has everything we need.  We curled up under the Red Woods and got a great nights sleep, after watching a movie, of course.
